For as long as owner Michelle Payne can remember, Fox’s General Store in Corner Brook has been a place for the community to gather. But hard economic times have forced her to reduce the beloved business’s hours. It hurts Payne to have to downsize the longstanding staple of the Curling area. “It's not really a choice that anybody in business really likes to make,” she said in an interview with CBC News. “But for sustainability purposes and to try to continue serving my community how I can…this is the decision that makes the most sense.” The store will close its doors on Sept. 30 before reopening next May.
